Why Were Old Pennies Called D? [Solved]
Wow, that’s confusing! Who’d have thought ’d’ stood for pennies? I guess it makes sense though; ‘denarius’ is Latin for penny. And halfpennies were abbreviated to ‘ob’, which must be short for ‘obulus’. Crazy!
