The Long Answer: Sunlight is made up of all the colors of the rainbow, but when it reaches Earth’s atmosphere, it gets scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue light is scattered more than any other color because its waves are shorter and smaller. That’s why we usually see a bright blue sky during the day - it’s because of all that blue light bouncing around!
