Why Do We Have 40 Hours? [Solved]
Wow! That’s awesome! In 1938, Congress passed the Fair Labor Standards Act, which mandated employers to pay overtime for any hours worked over 44 in a week. Two years later, they amended it so that the workweek was reduced to 40 hours - and voila! By 1940, the 40-hour workweek was officially U.S. law.
